چکیده

Antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA)–associated vasculitis encompasses 3 conditions: eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (EGPA; formerly named Churg-Strauss syndrome), granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA; formerly named Wegener granulomatosis), and microscopic polyangiitis.1 Diagnosing ANCA-associated small-vessel vasculitis is challenging for clinicians because of its infrequent presentation (incidence of 20 per 1 million) and variable clinical manifestations.1,2 Antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody– associated small-vessel vasculitis generally presents as a multisystem disease.2 Here we describe a case of ANCAassociated small-vessel vasculitis that underlines why it is important for family physicians to be familiar with this condition and to have an appropriately high index of suspicion to prevent lifethreatening end-organ damage.3

Idiopathic retinal vasculitis, aneurysms, and neuroretinitis (irvan) syndrome associated with positive perinuclear antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (p-anca).

PURPOSE To describe an unusual case of idiopathic retinal vasculitis, aneurysms, and neuroretinitis syndrome associated with a positive perinuclear antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody test. METHODS This is an interventional case report. A 22-year-old man with decreased vision underwent ophthalmoscopic, angiographic, and laboratory evaluation. The left eye underwent laser therapy due to circin...

Antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody-positive cutaneous leukocytoclastic vasculitis associated with propylthiouracil therapy.

A dministration of propylthiouracil therapy has been associated with a hypersensitivity syndrome that typically manifests as vasculitis. Most cases of propylthiouracil therapy– induced antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA) positivity react to perinuclear ANCA (p-ANCA). We describe a patient who presented with cutaneous manifestations of propylthiouracil therapy hypersensitivity vasculitis ...

Differentiation of Cocaine-Induced Midline Destructive Lesions from ANCA-Associated Vasculitis

Introduction: Cocaine-induced midline destructive lesions (CIMDL) are complications of regular nasal cocaine inhalation. CIMDL can mimic systemic diseases with positive anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies (ANCA), such as granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA).   Case Report: In this article, we describe the case of a young woman who presented with nasal perforation induced by cocaine, al...

Auto-antibodies in Patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease Unclassified

Background: Inflammatory bowel disease unclassified (IBDU) is considered to be an aberrant immune response with loss of tolerance to many antigens. Objective: This paper tries to address whether there is any value to test for auto-antibodies in such patients. Methods: 60 patients with inflammatory bowel disease unclassified participated in the study. Auto-antibodies to nuclear antigen, intestin...
